Commissioned Paintings and Art in Guntersville, AL
Artistic Origins
Up until the Summer of 2018, I had never thought of painting. I decided it would be fun to take a painting class with friends. The summer passed without one. Early September while strolling through Hobby Lobby, my husband picked up a small set of acrylic paint and handed it to me. He said, "you have been talking about painting, why don't you try it out". He told me to grab a pre-sketched canvas first because a blank canvas could be intimidating. I picked up a small pack of blank canvases just in case I felt up to the challenge.

I went home and finished the painting that afternoon. The next day I painted some aspen trees. Over the course of the next year, I had painted over 100 canvases. Needless to say, the artistic passion was flourishing. Not only was I beginning to sell art but was being solicited for commissions. There was no other explanation for the talent but a gift from the Lord. I knew it was divinely inspired, which was the obvious name for the company. It may be my hand on the brush, but it is His hand guiding mine and imparting the visions of subject matter.

A few years prior, my career desires were to move up the corporate ladder to senior management. Despite striving and completing an MBA, all doors remained closed. God can take your plans and turn them upside down. Through the gift of painting all the Glory is His; I could not even draw a straight line and no clue about color. Yet, my skills were rapidly coming together. There were times I would step back from a painting and be in awe of what I was seeing. No way could that be of my effort, it could only be of the Lord. I am thankful that I continue to grow and explore challenging work.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

Whatever the purpose is for this gift, I surrender it to Him to mold and mature. We are given these "good works" not for ourselves but for the Glory of God. I look forward to the journey.
